Michael Ray Thompson, age 61, of Lonsdale formerly of Marshall, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 4, 2013. Mike worked and then retired from the city of Marshall; he was a former member of the volunteer Fire Department in Marshall, and the current commander of the Lonsdale American Legion. Mike was also an active volunteer/member of the Fort Snelling Honor Guard – Monday Squad. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Nina Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rebecca Thompson; children, Bennett (fiancé Liz Knutson) and Holland (Steven) Michog; grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie Michog; sister, Kristie (Terry) Flemming. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Friday, March 8, 2013 at Trondhjem Lutheran Church, 7525 Garfield Ave., Lonsdale with a Memorial visitation on Thursday (3/7) from 4-8 PM at the White Funeral Home, 201 5th Ave., Lonsdale also 1 hr. prior to service at church. In lieu of flowers memorials will be donated to the American Legion and the Fort Snelling Honor Guard. Military honors performed by the Lonsdale American Legion. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
